• Homonym: Several independent words which "share" the same linguistic corpse.

• difficult to translate, often depends on context and semantics

• examples:

  • "Reif" might mean "ring", "bracelet" or "white frost"
  • "screen" might mean "Schirm", "Leinwand", "Tarnung", "Raster", "Abschirmung"
